To say that I am interested in politics would be right, of course! Politics covers such a wide variety of topic areas, and we encounter one area or another every single day. I would say that there may be a majority of young people, particularly in the UK who have no interest at all, they are totally oblivious and unlike me they have not been given the chance and opportunity to be inspired by the people in politics and what it does!
I have been inspired, at a local level in my local council, seeing the work that is done and the decisions that are make that affect my life every day and in my area, at a more wider national level in both Welsh and National Government, and even at a European level.
Being given these opportunities along with many other young people, from various youth groups, forums and councils around the UK it inspired me even more. Seeing how pasionate and interested young people can be, once they are opened up to the world of politics, what it involves, the power and decision making that is hidden behind the clumsy image of boring politicians standing around and what seems to be arguing on minor irritations.
I do believe that politicians together can solve the problems we have, but I think they need the people and public behind them fully. This includes the next generation, as these are the people these politicians will be making the decisions for, so for this more politicians need to be inspiring young people to get involved and information on politics needs to be more easily accessible and maybe even more education on it, as it can be a very complex topic and hard to get a handle on.
